Our Mission

The Program is a for profit social enterprise dedicated to Universal Access to  educational technology and quality educational content.  Universal access refers to the ability of all people to have equal opportunity and access to a service or product from which they can benefit, regardless of their social class, ethnicity, background or physical disabilities.  The Foundation is dedicated to enabling universal access by providing a clearinghouse for educational and adaptive technology.    We match educational technology and resources to those in need.

Program Need

Today, opportunity and success are increasingly tied to technology literacy.  Yet, according to The Children’s Partnership, over 50 million Americans are unable to access or use the technology and services they need to be successful.  For those in isolated areas, with low income, limited literacy skills, or disabilities, a persistent “access gap” leaves the promise of the Web unfulfilled.

To promote 21st Century Literacy Skills and close the Digital Divide, we must provide:

1)     Universal Access to Educational Technology (computers, laptops, adaptive technology, educational software, PDAs)

2)     Broadband Access to the World Wide Web

3)     Content Portals to Access Quality Online Content and Coursework

4)     Media Literacy Training to Promote Safe and Responsible Surfing----
Media literacy is the process of analyzing, evaluating and creating messages in a wide variety of media modes, genres and forms. It uses an inquiry-based instructional model that encourages people to ask questions about what they watch, see, and read.

How it Works

The Foundation seeks donations of used, yet usable technology-

Educational Technology includes, but is not limited to, software, hardware, as well as Internet applications and activities.

Adaptive technology  helps people who cannot use regular versions of products, primarily people with physical disabilities such as limitations to vision, hearing, and mobility.

Volunteers renew and upgrade as needed—and pass the technology to those in need.  Need is determined by an application process.
